Knights of Columbus pledge support to Pope Leo XIV

Vatican City - The Knights of Columbus want to support Leo XIV, their first compatriot on the Chair of Peter. Although this is not unusual, it is certainly important – especially for financial reasons.

The financially strong Knights of Columbus pledged their support to Leo XIV. The Pope received the leadership of the lay association from the USA, which is considered conservative, at the Vatican on Friday. "The Supreme Knight and the Supreme Chaplain assured Pope Leo of the Order's loyalty and promised him their continued prayers and support for his pontificate," the Knights of Columbus announced afterwards.

Since their foundation in 1882, the Knights of Columbus have supported the respective head of the Catholic Church, the Vatican and their projects, primarily financially. With more than two million members worldwide, the association is one of the largest lay organisations in the Catholic Church. (KNA)
