Nuncio Eterovic warns of European suicide

The papal ambassador to Germany, Nikola Eterovic, has warned of a crisis in Western civilisation. In view of the decline of the Christian faith in Europe, Eterovic lamented a "culture of death" through abortion and euthanasia. The demographic development of Europe is a "sign of suicide".

Eterovic also described the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine as a sign of social suicide, not least because two Christianised countries were fighting each other there. "If man breaks with God, if he symbolically kills God, then unfortunately he also kills himself: he loses the foundation on which he stands firm, he despises the values that, among other things, have shaped Europe and made the flourishing of Western civilisation possible."

Eterovic also warned against a "gender ideology" and an "ideological colonisation" of the continent directed against the Christian image of the family. (KNA)
